As the regulatory Compliance Specialist, the role will serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory compliance in India, ensuring that the organisation meets all applicable central, state, and local statutory requirements. The incumbent will proactively advise leadership and business teams on compliance obligations, regulatory changes, risk escalation and risk mitigation, ensuring seamless operations within the applicable Indian regulatory framework.

Main Responsibilities

As the regulatory Compliance Specialist, the role will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring full compliance with all applicable central, state, and local laws, regulations, circulars, gazetted orders, governing a foreign privately held entity operating in India. This includes maintaining a local comprehensive compliance framework and calendar, managing statutory filings and reporting, and ensuring adherence to labour, employment, workplace, and other regulations. The individual will lead PoSH compliance, including governance, training, and reporting obligations, while acting as the primary advisor to the business on regulatory requirements and risks. Additionally, the role will involve engaging effectively with internal stakeholders, global teams, and external regulators or advisors to ensure consistent and compliant operations.

About you and how you can excel in the role

  • Qualified Corporate Secretary (Company Secretary or CS)
  • Degree in Law (LLB / LLM)
  • Relevant certifications or advanced qualifications in compliance, labour laws, or risk management are desirable
  • 5-10 years of experience in corporate secretarial, regulatory compliance, legal compliance, or governance roles within multinational corporations
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdictional compliance across central, state, and local regulations
  • Firm knowledge in PoSH Compliance Framework
  • Experience in MCA, RBI, GST & TDS, EPF, Shops & Establishment regulations
  • Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate into business action
  • High degree of judgment, discretion, and ethical decision-making
  • Experience working in non-regulated or lightly regulated sectors (non-BFSI, non-B2C intensive environments) preferred
