Oversee the programmatic and clinical operations management of the Vascular Laboratory. Manage the clinical activities of the lab that performs of a wide variety of ultrasound procedures.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the program planning and business development for the vascular laboratory. Develops and implements policies and procedures relative to the operation of a vascular lab service ensuring that work practices support goals and standards of practice, productivity and access. Evaluates operations to ensure proper workflow and compliment of staff to perform vascular studies and procedures. (essential)
  • Develops and maintains systems and/or processes that measure results of work/productivity, revenue, volume, outcomes, quality assurance and other work improvement indicators. Works in collaboration with the Director of the Vascular Lab to determine best practices, desired outcomes, expansion of clinical services provided and best method of achieving and reporting outcomes.   • Directs the operation of the lab on a day-to-day basis, ensuring the scope of practice meets all clinical, technical and regulatory standards. Responsible for financial oversight of the vascular lab, including budget development, productivity reporting, and profitability analysis.Plans and implements marketing strategies for business growth.   • Responsible for initiating and maintaining vendor relationships including equipment vendors. This will encompass involvement with vendors for the purchase/lease/rental of all appropriate ultrasound equipment and collateral items necessary for a state-of-the-art laboratory. (essential)
  • Participates as a provider in the full array of vascular ultrasound exams and procedures requested and performed in this lab. Acts as liaison within the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery between services and personnel within the office as well as with other physicians and departments that request services of the vascular lab.   • Interviews patients, obtains all necessary clinical information, explains procedures to patients as appropriate. Operates the equipment, selecting the appropriate settings for the various clinical studies/procedures ordered. Provides the preliminary interpretation of the exam, documenting per the protocols of the division. Conveys preliminary interpretation to the appropriate physician/surgeon. (essential)
  • Ensures that all clinical equipment is functioning appropriately, conducting routine calibration and inspection per the manufacturer's recommendations. (essential)
  • Documents services provided, submission of appropriate fees and charges to billing vendor to ensure timely submission of claims to maximize reimbursement. (essential)
  • Ensures that the vascular lab is stocked with appropriate supplies related to the lab procedures. (essential)
  • Assists surgeons with office based procedures including but not limited to VNUS procedure. (essential)
  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 4-6 Indirect Reports: None
  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Vocational or Technical training in Vascular Technology or Biological Sciences. required. Bachelor's degree in Vascular Technology or Biological Sciences. preferred.
  • Registration Registered Vascular Tech required.
  • More than 10 years related work experience required and 3-5 years supervisory/management experience required
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in management of a vascular laboratory service and/or consultancy experience in this arena.

Age based Competencies: Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 - over.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.

Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.

Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions

Several times a week:  Protective equipment required(Respirator,earplugs,mask,gloves,eyewear etc), Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or airborne pathogens, Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens.

Health Care Status:  HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.- Health Care Worker Status may vary by department

Sensory Requirements:

Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Color vision/perception, Visual monotony, Visual clarity > 20 feet, Visual clarity <3 feet, Hot/Cold, Sharp/Dull, Smell, Conversation, Monitoring Equipment, Telephone, Background Noise.

Physical Requirements:

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Pay Range:

$145,000.00 USD - $175,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
