Hot Mills Specialist

HOT MILLS SPECIALIST

THE HOT MILLS SPECIALIST WILL . . .

Coordinate production flow, material movement, dispatching, inventory control, quality disposition, and customer order fulfillment activities across the #5 Mill and supporting operations. Ensure continuous material flow through manufacturing processes while maintaining product quality, material traceability, production schedules, customer requirements, and safe operating practices. Act as the primary liaison between operations, planning, metallurgy, quality, customer service, maintenance, and material handling functions to optimize throughput and improve SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) performance.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED required. 

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred. 

• Training in shop floor systems, production reporting systems, quality processes, inventory control, and material handling operations. 

• Knowledge of ISO/QS requirements and manufacturing quality systems preferred.
• Minimum of three years experience in manufacturing operations, production control, material-flow coordination, production scheduling, or a related industrial environment. Direct experience in steel manufacturing, hot rolling, or a comparable heavy-industrial operation is required. 
• Manufacturing, production control, material flow coordination, operations facilitation, scheduling, or related industrial experience. 
• Experience working in steel manufacturing, hot rolling, forging, heat treatment, or other heavy industrial environments preferred. 
• Experience coordinating production schedules, dispatching work, resolving material flow issues, and supporting customer order fulfillment. 
• Experience processing quality holds, deviations, nonconforming material dispositions, and rework activities. 
• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, developing, and training Hot Mill crews in a supervisory or leadership capacity while promoting safe work practices, productivity, and quality performance. 
• Extensive hot rolling operations experience with a strong understanding of rolling mill processes, production flow, equipment capabilities, and operational troubleshooting. 
• Experience with hot rolling furnace operations and heating practices, including the ability to support and assist Furnace Operators in achieving production, quality, and temperature requirements. 
• Working knowledge of Roller responsibilities and hot rolling practices, with the ability to provide operational support, fill in as needed, and assist in maintaining efficient mill operations. 
• Proven ability to coordinate production activities across operations, metallurgy, maintenance, quality, and planning functions to meet customer delivery and manufacturing objectives. 
• Experience utilizing manufacturing systems and production tracking tools to maintain material traceability, inventory accuracy, production reporting, and order fulfillment activities.
