Overview
The Director of Design & Construction will manage and provide construction support for all new locations across the WellBiz Brands portfolio and oversee all remodel and refresh projects. They will manage vendors throughout the project, oversee the architectural and permitting process, review construction drawings, sign renderings, general contractor schedules, general contractor quotes, vendor quotes, and site photos, and manage project files and other administrative tasks. They will work cross-functionally with Sales, Real Estate, Design, Operations, NSO team, and Creative/Marketing to ensure each location is built to brand standards. As the team evolves, this person will provide oversight and management to Construction and Project Managers and ensure projects receive support for all construction-related activities for new locations, remodels, and relocations across the WellBiz Brands portfolio. They will ensure the team guides franchise owners through the construction process, manages the schedule, and communicates with key internal and external stakeholders as needed.

Compensation Range: $145,000.00 - $155,000.00/annually plus an incentive compensation plan. Offers to select candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
Salary ranges reflect Colorado disclosure requirements. Compensation may vary by geographic location for candidates working outside Colorado.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with franchisees to manage/ provide construction support for all new locations.
Partner with Design, Operations, Real Estate, Marketing, NSO team, and other key stakeholders to provide direction and status updates on the construction process for all active project locations.
Attend and participate in weekly status calls with franchise owners, the NSO team, and third-party vendors to discuss project status.
Manage and coordinate weekly status calls with architects and key vendors for updates on on-site surveys, construction drawings, permits (timing and approvals), etc.
Manage, coordinate, and review the site survey process with architects to ensure the viability of the proposed location, including use, zoning, parking, regulatory requirements, design standards, utility availability, costs, and fees.
Proactively manage the site survey process, construction documents, permits, signage, and project vendors from start to completion.
Review and redline construction documents, both architectural and MEP, to verify layout and finish selections, and communicate any necessary changes directly to the architect.
Review and approve all exterior signage and interior graphics from third-party vendors to ensure brand standards are met.
Responsible for providing updates on the overall project status and project milestones, and managing and tracking all milestones for construction-related dates on the project reporting pipeline.
Organize, maintain, and manage project files that include items relating to construction, architecture, and permitting.
Work with the internal team, GCs, architects, etc., on value engineering the buildout for each brand.
Work with franchisees, Design, Operations, and other key stakeholders to provide direction and support on all remodels and refreshes.
Work with Design and Operations to manage and coordinate various project rollouts for new product and service innovations.
Manage direct reports as assigned, including Construction Manager, Project Manager, and/or Design Planners, as needed.
Ensure direct report(s) manage the process for all architectural, permitting, and construction-related tasks.
Ensure direct report(s) work cross-functionally with the NSO team, Design, Real Estate, Site Development, and other key stakeholders. Communicate any date and/or status changes and update and maintain project plans for all construction-related tasks as needed.
Provide ongoing feedback to direct report(s), conduct annual reviews, and other managerial responsibilities.
Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor and department heads.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in franchise systems and managing projects owned by franchisees.
- Proven success in a construction management or project management role.
- Solid understanding of the construction and site development process with experience managing a team.
- Solid understanding of core architectural design concepts, practices, and codes.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem resolution to all areas of project development.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated while collaborating in a team environment.
- Proven ability to communicate professionally and build solid internal and external relationships.
- Experience in FranConnect, Smartsheets, Construction Management, and Architectural software is highly preferred.
- Organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and prioritize tasks and schedules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility and desire to work in a fast-paced and evolving organization.
