Description

Network Administrator – Full Time

Location: Amityville, NY Salary Range: $70,000–$80,000 annually Employment Type: Full-Time

Ready to take the lead and make an IT role your own?

If you are an experienced IT support or network professional ready for greater independence, ownership, and a place to build lasting relationships, Hope For Youth may be your next career home. This is an opportunity to become the go-to internal IT professional for an organization where your expertise, initiative, and everyday interactions make a meaningful difference.

Hope For Youth supports children, youth, and families across Long Island. Our Network Administrator plays a key role in keeping the technology our employees and programs depend on running effectively so they can focus on that mission.

The Role & Internal Structure

The Network Administrator is HFY's lead internal IT professional, responsible for organizing daily IT priorities, providing hands-on technical support, managing server and network infrastructure, and driving practical improvements to systems and workflows.

You will work collaboratively with an Operations Associate whose responsibilities include part-time support for IT activities alongside other Operations duties. Our external IT contractor provides technical partnership on server maintenance, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and advanced matters, including some Level 2 and Level 3 escalations if/as needed. You will serve as the internal point of coordination, ensuring that employee needs are clearly communicated and issues are tracked through resolution.

As HFY's highest internal IT position, this role offers professional growth through greater autonomy, technical development, project leadership, and ownership of agency-wide improvements.

Who Will Thrive Here

We are looking for a hands-on, organized, service-oriented professional who enjoys both technology and working with people. You bring sound judgment, take initiative, and follow through. You can help a frustrated employee feel comfortable asking for help, explain technical information clearly, and recognize when a recurring issue calls for a better process.

This may be a great next step if you currently work in IT support, systems support, or network administration and are ready to take broader ownership of an organization's day-to-day technology needs. You should be comfortable moving between routine employee support, technical troubleshooting, systems monitoring and maintenance, planning, and process improvement. Every part of that work contributes to a dependable and responsive IT function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory, including user accounts, permissions, security groups, password resets, and access management.
  • Support Microsoft 365 administration, including user accounts, licensing, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Support Microsoft Azure/Entra ID and cloud-based systems in coordination with the external IT contractor, including user access, security, system reliability, and routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and related network technologies.
  • Assist the external IT contractor with server and network hardware maintenance, system updates, and infrastructure needs.
  • Provide Level 1 IT Help Desk support to employees across all Hope For Youth locations and employees working remotely using agency-issued and approved non-agency equipment.
  • Review and prioritize IT Help Desk requests based on severity and business impact and escalate Level 2 and Level 3 issues to the external IT contractor as needed.
  • Troubleshoot Windows 11, computers, printers, software, mobile devices, connectivity, and other technology, including workstation setup, configuration, restoration, and deployment.
  • IT onboarding and offboarding, including creation and deactivation of network/Active Directory accounts, system access, and IT equipment deployment and collection.
  • Purchase, configure, manage, and deploy IT equipment and agency-issued mobile phones across Hope For Youth locations.
  • Maintain accurate IT inventory, asset, equipment, and licensing documentation.
  • Support established cybersecurity practices, system updates, access controls, backups, and disaster recovery activities in coordination with the external IT contractor.
  • Track open IT issues and action items with vendors and contractors through resolution.
  • Assist with technology upgrades, system implementations, and other special IT projects.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and updating of IT policies, procedures, and the organization's Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Set up workstation profiles and provide technology training and guidance to staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of related IT experience, including experience supporting network environments, systems, end users, and the technologies and responsibilities outlined above.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration and licensing, and Duo MFA.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and network topology.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 11 and experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, network connectivity, and end-user technology.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, MFA, endpoint security, user access management, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience configuring, deploying, maintaining, and tracking computers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to independently resolve Level 1 technical issues and appropriately identify and escalate Level 2 and Level 3 issues.
  • Strong customer service and people skills required.
  • Ability to support technology needs across Hope For Youth locations as needed.
  • Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing/sitting for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, ongoing access to reliable vehicle and driving own vehicle for work (mileage reimbursement available).

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365, or Microsoft Azure are preferred but not required.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range is $70,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and technical skills.
