Job Description:
This is an 18-month fixed term position
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The UX/UI Designer supports the creation intuitive, engaging, and user-centered experiences across digital platforms. The role focuses on designing clear, usable, and accessible interfaces by applying established user‑centred design practices.
Working collaboratively across cross-functional teams, the UX/UI Designer delivers UX/UI solutions and contributes to system design, implementation, and continuous improvement activities across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design intuitive, visually consistent user interfaces aligned with approved standards and guidelines
Contribute to the analysis, design, and enhancement of digital systems, applications, and platforms, ensuring alignment between user experience and system capabilities.
Translate business, regulatory, and user requirements into wireframes, screen designs, and prototypes.
Develop end-to-end user flows, journey mapping activities and interactive prototypes that support system functionality and integration for websites and portals.
Assist with usability testing and refining designs based on feedback and findings.
Support implementation activities by working closely with development teams to validate design solutions, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with system functionality.
Support the identification, analysis, and resolution of system-related and usability issues, including diagnosing root causes and recommending solutions.
Support the delivery of design assets to development teams.
Support review and preparation of content submitted by internal teams for publication
Maintain consistent navigation, layout, and content structure across digital touchpoints.
Support web‑related projects, enhancements, and updates as part of a larger team.
Use analytics and user feedback to help identify usability and system design issues using analyticsm user feedback and testing methodologies identifying opportunities for improvement.
Support the collection of user feedback (e.g., surveys, usability testing notes) to help identify areas for UX improvement.
Participate in workshops and collaborative sessions (e.g., journey mapping, brainstorming) by contributing ideas and documentation; collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of design solutions within technical environments.
Apply FSRA’s design system, including established UI components, patterns, and visual styles.
Ensure design solutions meet accessibility, regulatory, and organizational standards, including AODA and WCAG.
Incorporate inclusive design principles into day‑to‑day design activities.
Participate in accessibility reviews and address issues with guidance from more experienced team members.
Participate in and contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of digital projects, including ownership of assigned deliverables and timelines; provide guidance and share knowledge with team members on UX/UI practices, tools, and standards.
Participate in troubleshooting activities related to digital platforms, supporting the diagnosis and resolution of functional and experience-related issues.
Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes to improve UX/UI and system effectiveness for continuous improvement of design standards and reusable components
Identify opportunities to simplify complex regulatory interactions for users.
Manage assigned work activities within projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Postsecondary education in design, human‑computer interaction, computer science, or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
Experience
1–4 years of experience working in UX/UI design roles or related digital design positions.
Experience in analyzing and designing digital systems, applications, or platforms.
Experience contributing to system design, analysis, or implementation activities.
Knowledge and Skills
Good knowledge of user‑centered design principles, systems design practices and UX/UI methodologies.
Familiarity with designing for websites, portals, and responsive interfaces.
Understanding of information architecture, interaction design and navigation design concepts.
Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices; knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
General understanding of usability testing and user research methods.
Familiarity with design systems and component‑based design approaches.
Understanding of how web technologies and development constraints impact design.
Proficiency in creating wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs using tools such as Figma
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality design work.
Ability to incorporate feedback and iterate on designs effectively.
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems independently.
Strong collaboration skills and comfort working within cross‑functional technical and business teams.
Clear communication skills, both verbal and visual
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines and contribute to project delivery in a structured environment.
