Assistant Manager – Operations
About the Client
Our client is a growing international freight forwarding and logistics company specializing in sea freight, cross-border transportation, customs coordination, and multimodal cargo movement across Pakistan and Central Asia.
About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Manager – Operations with strong hands-on experience in Sea Freight Import Operations, pricing, shipment coordination, and customer handling.
This role involves managing the shipment lifecycle from rate procurement and quotation development to shipment execution, vendor invoice verification, and customer invoicing.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and manage freight rates from shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, overseas agents, and other vendors.
- Prepare competitive quotations and accurate shipment cost sheets.
- Handle sea freight, inland transportation, cross-border trucking, customs, terminal, and documentation charges.
- Manage customer enquiries, quotation follow-ups, negotiations, and booking conversions.
- Coordinate end-to-end shipment execution with shipping lines, agents, transporters, customs partners, and internal teams.
- Monitor shipment milestones from booking and documentation through customs clearance and final delivery.
- Provide timely shipment updates and resolve operational issues.
- Verify vendor invoices against approved rates, quotations, and actual services.
- Coordinate discrepancies and billing issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Support customer invoicing, shipment closure, and reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate costing, operational, and billing records.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding/logistics.
- Hands-on experience in Sea Freight Import Operations in Karachi.
- Strong understanding of FCL/LCL shipments, Bills of Lading, import documentation, customs clearance, and port/terminal handling.
- Experience with freight rate collection, costing, and quotation preparation.
- Experience coordinating with shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, and shipping-line agents.
- Understanding of vendor billing, customer invoicing, and operational documentation.
- Strong customer communication, negotiation, and coordination skills.
- Strong numerical accuracy and commercial understanding.
- Good command of English and Urdu.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP/freight-management system experience is a plus.
Preferred
- Exposure to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, or Central Asian trade corridors.
- Experience with multimodal shipments involving sea, road, rail, or cross-border transportation.
- Exposure to shipping lines such as MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, or OOCL.
