Registered Nurse – Psychiatric Emergency Program (PEP)

Who We Are:

Psychiatric Emergency Program (PEP) is a 6-bed emergency behavioral crisis unit located within the ED. Elliot Behavioral Health Services is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to each individual patient. Our state-of-the-art units provide a wide array of equipment and patient acuity depending on a nurse’s professional interests, certifications, and experience level.

About the Job:

The Registered Nurse on PEP delivers care for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders. This includes de-escalation and crisis management under the supervision of providers. Also, creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families. Has the option to cross train on Pathways.

What You’ll Do:

• Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
• Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.

• Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
• Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.

Who You Are:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN – BSN preferred)
• Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
• Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment – ACLS preferred
• Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS

Work Shift: 

7:00pm - 7:30am - Every Other Weekend - 36hrs/wk - Pathways / PEP Unit Float
