What you'll do...
Role summary:The (USA) Associate Merchant supports category management by analyzing sales performance, assisting with financial planning, and providing recommendations on pricing and assortment. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to execute category and promotional strategies, optimize inventory, and enhance the customer experience across online channels. The Associate Merchant supports supplier negotiations, manages purchase orders, and assists in resolving supplier issues. Utilizing data and business insights, this role contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and assortment decisions that drive category performance. The position requires strong communication, collaboration, and vendor relationship management skills to support business objectives and deliver value to customers.

The Activewear Digital Merchandising team curates assortments that blend performance, style, innovation, and value. They monitor evolving fitness, wellness, and lifestyle trends to deliver products suited for everyday movement and performance activities. Collaborating across design, sourcing, planning, and supplier partners, the team brings activewear collections to life on Walmart’s digital platforms. Operating in a fast-paced environment, they adapt quickly to shifts in customer behavior and market trends. Data-driven decision-making guides assortment optimization and growth. Strong communication, project management, and supplier relationship skills ensure seamless execution and relevant, customer-focused activewear assortments each season.
What you'll do:
- Analyze sales data and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for assigned categories.
- Provide recommendations on item setup, pricing, and assortment to optimize inventory and customer experience.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to drive business solutions and continuous improvement.
- Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.
- Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate the setup of new suppliers for online channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement category and promotional strategies.
