Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Charnwood to assist with the appointment of a Principal Planning Officer, on a 4.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £40.69 - £54.00 per hour
Summary:
The Principal Planning Officer will support the delivery of development management services, with particular responsibility for major and complex planning applications. The role involves managing applications through pre-application advice, consultation, negotiation, assessment, reporting and committee presentation, while also providing professional advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manage major, complex and potentially controversial planning applications from pre-application stage through to determination.
- Provide pre-application advice and coordinate the views of relevant stakeholders.
- Undertake site inspections, research and consultation with statutory and non-statutory consultees.
- Lead negotiations with applicants, developers and professional agents, including Section 106 agreements.
- Prepare high-quality planning reports and recommendations for Planning Committees.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Town and Country Planning or a related subject, together with strong written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills.
Essentials:
- Substantial recent experience in Development Management, particularly dealing with complex planning applications and appeals.
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policies and guidance, with the ability to analyse complex planning issues and prepare professional reports and evidence.
