Description

Rolls Royce SMR is on a mission to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. As the leading Small Modular Reactor programme in Europe, we’re building a British solution to a global energy challenge and shaping one of the country’s most significant green export opportunities.

The appointment of a Head of Plant Delivery Mobilisation is a pivotal point in our growth and development, bringing a strategic leader to own our long-term vision for Plant Delivery capability, including defining how we, our supply chain and broader manufacturing ecosystem evolve to support First-of-a-Kind delivery and future fleet-scale deployment, this role will define how Rolls Royce SMR will industrialise, mobilise and scale powerplant delivery across multiple programmes, geographies and future growth phases. Leading and managing a large, cross-functional, team this will encompass:

  • Leading the end‑to‑end transition of RR SMR’s powerplant from concept through development, industrialisation, and into full‑scale production and site delivery

  • Establishing and determining the enterprise-wide Plant Delivery strategy, operating model, investment priorities and capability roadmap required to enable the industrialisation and fleet deployment of a £3bn+ product portfolio

  • Ensuring organisational and operational readiness across Safety, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality and Operations

  • Providing cross‑functional leadership to ensure that all elements of the powerplant are ready to be built— including early focus areas and later NI‑outside‑containment —that are matured, validated, and capable of being delivered repeatedly, safely and efficiently

We seek an influential and resilient leader who will have had exposure in regulated or safety‑critical environments (as you would expect nuclear "know-how" will be of of great interest to us, whilst those from defence, aerospace and energy sectors may all have transferable capability). We will need your application to showcase your experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Experience in leading large-scale engineering programmes such as Plant Delivery Mobilisation, New Product Introduction, Industrialisation, Product Engineering, or Major Programme Delivery

  • The design, implementation and operation of rigorous Plant Delivery Mobilisation frameworks, methodologies and operating models

  • The ability to interface confidently and competently with regulators, and all internal teams, on technical matters

  • A Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development or related technical discipline

The above is but a summary, a full role profile is available from Alex Jordan (I am easy to find on LinkedIn) and the closing date for applications is 30-August-2026.
