Manages operational and administrative tasks for a team of hospitalist physicians, Physician assistants, and Nurse practitioners. Focuses on patient management, scheduling, communications, patient logistics (admissions/discharges), and workflow efficiency. Acts as the liaison between providers, nurses, and other hospital departments to ensure efficient patient care.Job Description
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Responsible for coordinating the administrative and clinical services for the hospitalist group. Coordinates and manages the Hospitalist team patient schedule daily for each NJ hospital campus.
- Provides management services to the hospitalist program including, assignment of new admissions through the hospital emergency departments, and daily high-volume telephone contact (internal & external) to manage patient care.
- Responsible for scheduling outpatient appointments for patients discharged by our hospital medicine team.
- Assist patients by phone with any questions/concerns related to their hospital stay/discharge.
- Communicate daily with Hospitalist physicians, patients, physician offices, home care nurses, medical facilities and pharmacies.
- Assists with death certificates, home health, and other form completions.
- Create and maintain daily hospital census to accurately maintain admission/discharge data.
- Work with community providers by ensuring notification of hospital admission/discharge and linking the outside physicians to the Hospitalist caring for the patient.
- Process prior authorizations as needed for outpatient medications and procedures.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
Strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrate good judgement, able to handle sensitive situations and confidential information.
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Positive attitude and a strong team player.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma Required; Associate’s degree preferred, administrative, office, or related experience in lieu of degree.
AND
Experience:
2-4 years’ experience working in healthcare, customer service, hospital setting/medical office.
Salary Range
$17.78 to $25.33 HourlyThe actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
