Position Title: Seasonal Assistant Lodge Manager

Terms of Employment: Full-time, seasonal with operational season being November to May, and July to September

Position Overview

The Seasonal Assistant Lodge Manager is responsible for supporting the Lodge Manager with the overall service and guest experience at the lodge. This hands-on leadership role requires strong hospitality skills, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional service in a remote, team focused environment. Key responsibilities include administration, people management and supervising a team. The Seasonal Assistant Lodge Manager will be a people focused leader skilled at building meaningful professional relationships and inspiring their team to deliver life changing mountain experiences for every guest.

The Seasonal Assistant Lodge Manager has a typical schedule of two weeks on and one week off throughout the operating season and will have the ability to step into a variety of lodge roles as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver a high standard of hospitality service in F&B, retail, room and spa programs.
  • Assist the Lodge Manager in acting as the primary point of contact and host for guests.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to achieve KPIs, NPS, EES, and financial goals aligned with hospitality objectives.
  • Support the performance management process for staff including setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and delivering ongoing coaching and development to build a high-performing, motivated team.
  • Maintain accurate guest records within the hotel management system, ensuring precise billing and timely reconciliation of all guest charges and trip details.
  • Coordinate with area management and the Banff Office teams to provide timely and compassionate support to injured or ill guests.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all hospitality related roles at the lodge to effectively support, train, and lead team members.
  • Foster clear, cooperative communication with all departments across CMH to promote teamwork, consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and report lodge inventory levels.
  • Assist the Lodge Manager in creating and managing staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage and timely, accurate payroll processing.
  • Collaborate with area management to foster a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable work environment for all team members.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing tasks and aligning actions with broader goals and detailed action plans.

All employees will support the implementation of CMH health and safety and sustainability initiatives and participate in training and help as required during emergency response situations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in hospitality, travel and tourism, or equivalent work experience.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1, or equivalent.
  • BC Serving-it-Right.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, preferred.
  • Previous experience in entry-management, preferred.
  • Experience in Point of Sale, preferred.

A positive, collaborative working style is essential, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strategic planning abilities are crucial. The candidate must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn other relevant software platforms are important, as is the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating seasonal workloads and changing priorities. The role requires a trustworthy, goal-oriented, respectful, and self-directed individual who can navigate complex responsibilities. Additionally, the candidate must have the confidence to interact with all levels of the company, including those in remote locations within a hub-and-spoke model.

Working Conditions

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 20 pounds on a occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis.
  • This position requires you to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.
  • Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area, which includes travel on logging roads.
  • Travel to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area will be reimbursed up to a specific amount each way, for a maximum of two roundtrips per month.
  • Travel is required from time-to-time throughout the year for company meetings and workshops.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive base salary based on skillset and experience, as well as potential opportunities to heli-hike and heli-ski, as available. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
