What is the opportunity? 

The Manager, Financial Instruments & Securities Reporting will be responsible for supporting the Senior Manager in efficient and effective delivery of the enterprise wide financial instruments classification, securities reporting processes and disclosures. These processes are critical to providing governance and control and ensuring meaningful disclosures regarding RBC’s financial instruments and securities portfolio are provided to Shareholders, Regulators and the Analyst community. The Manager will also support the implementation of process changes to drive efficiency and meet changing external requirements, while maintaining an exceptional control environment. 

What will you do?  

  • Prepare and deliver RBC's annual, quarterly, and regulatory disclosures, including Securities portfolio consolidation, Financial Instruments Leveling, Level 3 Roll forwards, Sensitivities, and Unobservable Inputs 

  • Conduct complex data analysis on large datasets to identify trends, ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and detect data quality issues across disclosures 

  • Prepare regulatory reports and consolidation entries, including reconciliations and variance analysis for monthly and quarterly close processes with accuracy and timeliness 

  • Maintain documentation and guidance for financial disclosures, regulatory returns, and operational processes 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, Business Platforms, Finance, Group Risk Management, Treasury, and valuations teams 

  • Implement process improvements and automation recommendations to enhance controls, efficiency, and cross-functional coordination 

  • Support team resilience through cross-training and business continuity planning participation 

  • Prepare P&L accruals, reconciliations, and non-financial metrics for RTS in coordination with the P&L team 

 

What will you need to succeed? 

Must have 

  • CPA designation or equivalent 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance field 

  • Ability to think critically, challenge financial data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis, and excellent attention to detail 

  • Independently propose solutions to problems and, leveraging business and strategic insights, recommend a course of action to reporting manager and team members 

  • Manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating with team members, manager and other stakeholders 

  • Ability to document complex subject matter though strong written and oral-communication skills 

  • Talent for analyzing large data sets using advanced Excel functions 

  • Curiosity to explore better ways of working maintaining a strong governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency. 

  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple requests on an ongoing basis 

Nice-to-have 

  • CFA designation 

  • Experience and understanding of RBC’s businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns. 

  • Financial reporting or securities reporting experience is preferred
