We are currently looking for a highly motivated and flexible Intern (M/F/D) to join our Advanced Technology team in Munich. If you want to be a part of our growing company that is driven by innovation and is focused on building a future together with our employees, consider applying.

This position is planned for 3 months with the opportunity to write a master´s thesis to follow. We are seeking a motivated Master’s student to conduct research on “Failure Management in Optical Networks Using Machine Learning.” The topic is highly relevant for the development of next‑generation optical network applications and is well suited for a research internship.

The student will work under the guidance of a senior researcher and collaborate with experts in advanced optical networking. This position offers hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge technologies and provides valuable exposure to industry‑level research and development within a leading global provider of optical networking solutions.

Financial compensation will be provided according to company policies. Outstanding research results may additionally lead to scientific publications.

Principle duties and essential functions

• Review the current state of the art in failure management for Optical Transport Networks (OTN).
• Investigate suitable machine learning algorithms for data generation and failure prediction.
• Present research findings in internal meetings.
• Prepare a final report summarizing the research outcomes.

Knowledge, skills and experience required

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Telecommunication, Computer science, Electrical engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of Python and machine learning techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with SDN controllers or Docker is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
