Overview

The salary range for this position is $19.67 - $22.84 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. 

 

This Statement of Work covers the need for a graduate and/or an undergraduate student who is motivated and skilledin cybersecurity/Computer Information.

 

A cybersecurity professional typically has a diverse background that combines education, hands-on experience, and apassion for technology and security. The student will be working on an increasingly digital world, safeguarding ourinformation and systems is paramount. Responsibilities

The student contractor shall provide analytical and technical support in the following areas, as specified underindividual task orders, to the work sponsor:

Cyber Security Engineering:

• Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential security risks and vulnerabilities within the organization’ssystems and networks.
• Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches andattacks, including containment, eradication, and recovery procedures.
• Security Monitoring: Continuously monitor networks and systems for unusual activity or threats usingsecurity information and event management (SIEM) tools.
• Penetration Testing: Conduct simulated attacks on systems to identify weaknesses and recommendimprovements to enhance security.
• Vulnerability Management: Regularly scan for and assess vulnerabilities in software and hardware, andprioritize remediation efforts.
• Policy Development: Create and enforce security policies and procedures to ensure compliance withregulations and best practices.
• Employee Training: Conduct training sessions for staff on cybersecurity awareness, safe practices, and theimportance of protecting sensitive information.
• Access Control: Implement and manage user access controls, ensuring that employees have the necessarypermissions while protecting sensitive data.
• Data Encryption: Apply encryption methods to protect data at rest and in transit, ensuring confidentialityand integrity.

Qualifications

Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.

Graduate I: Must have a bachelor's degree in the required discipline and able to accomplish a minimum of 50% of the task without supervision.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate Level 3 and Graduate Level 1: Cyber Security and/or Computer Engineering major preferred; relevantmajors such as Data Science and Software Engineering be suitable given relevant coursework and/or work experience.One student is needed only.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with cloud computing/architecture (AWS, Azure).
• Ability to read and implement technical documents or test standards.
• Independent/self-starter who can operate under minimal oversight.
• Collaborative/team-player who can work well with groups.

 

ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION:

• This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
• Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify
• This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
• This position will remain open until filled
• Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
