Programming Technician

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Programming Technician to support the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated systems and programmable equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and industrial control systems, and will play a key role in ensuring efficient and reliable operations. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems.
• Assist in the design and implementation of automation solutions.
• Maintain and update software documentation, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering and maintenance teams to support equipment upgrades and installations.
• Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel and coworkers.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, system optimization and stay current with new, innovations that may benefit the HMP operations.

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, or related field. Combination of education and experience will be considered. 
• 2+ years of experience in programming and troubleshooting industrial control systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Control Techniques, Lenze).
• Familiarity with HMI development tools and SCADA systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings while providing hands on support with diagnostics, repairs, installations, etc., as required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with robotics and motion control systems.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and industrial communication (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles.

Working Conditions:

• May require occasional travel and/or remote work between facilities.
• Ability to work in industrial environments including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• On-call availability for emergency support as needed.
