Job Summary

Technical expert who partners with business analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews. Responsible for analyzing and translating business information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Defines, designs, and oversees the systems and applications architecture for both current and future business applications.
• Evaluates new and emerging technologies and developmental methodologies to find faster, cost effective, and more reliable solutions for existing and proposed systems.
• Partners with infrastructure, application, and quality teams to ensure that applications meet business requirements, are well documented, and have processes in place for ongoing support and maintenance.
• Drives standard and efficient applications and infrastructure design by aligning the infrastructure roadmap with the application technology strategy, hardware vendor roadmaps, and service capabilities.
• Assists in identification of emerging technologies that could have a positive impact on the organization; helps evaluate strategic fit.
• Contributes to technology strategy through consulting support: driving requirements gathering, collection of existing deployment plans, synthesis of business goals, and operating strategies.

• Solutions require analysis and investigation.
• Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
• Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally, 7+ years of experience in a related field. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a hands-on architect who can personally design, prototype, and validate AI and automation solutions while establishing reusable architecture patterns, technical standards, and engineering practices that enable enterprise-scale adoption. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a passion for innovation and has a proven track record of translating emerging technologies into practical business solutions.

AI, Databricks & Agent Architecture

• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing AI solutions using Databricks, including AI/ML workloads, GenAI capabilities, Databricks Apps, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse architecture.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying AI-powered applications and intelligent agents leveraging enterprise data platforms and modern AI frameworks.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise data platforms, APIs, SaaS applications, and business systems.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Copilot extensibility, Agent Builder, and agent-based architectures.
• Experience designing and implementing solutions utilizing Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent orchestration patterns, and intelligent workflow automation.
• Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, grounding techniques, memory patterns, and human-in-the-loop solution design.

Architecture, Design Patterns & Technical Leadership

• Demonstrated ability to establish architecture standards, reference architectures, reusable design patterns, and implementation frameworks that accelerate delivery and improve consistency across development teams.
• Experience balancing innovation, security, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence when designing enterprise solutions.
• Experience creating technical standards and architectural guidance for emerging technologies and AI-enabled solutions.
• Proven ability to evaluate new technologies and determine practical enterprise adoption strategies.

Hands-On Engineering & Solution Delivery

• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying production AI, automation, and cloud-based solutions.
• Hands-on experience building proof-of-concepts, prototypes, accelerators, and reference implementations that validate architectural approaches and emerging technologies.
• Experience mentoring development teams and providing technical leadership throughout the full solution lifecycle, from concept through production deployment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities across AI, data, cloud, and automation platforms.

DevOps & Engineering Excellence

• Experience implementing Azure DevOps best practices, including source control strategies, branching models, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment management practices.
• Experience establishing software engineering standards and delivery practices that improve quality, maintainability, and speed of delivery.
• Experience developing reusable frameworks, templates, and technical accelerators that increase developer productivity and solution consistency.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a builder, designer, and innovator who is equally comfortable whiteboarding enterprise architecture, building working prototypes in Databricks, reviewing code, mentoring developers, and evaluating emerging technologies. They possess a strong engineering mindset, remain hands-on with technology, and have a passion for helping development teams deliver scalable, secure, and impactful AI and automation solutions.
