Description
Achieving positive environmental outcomes for regional communities starts with strong local knowledge and experience. CQG Consulting (CQG) has recently become part of Beca, one of Asia Pacific’s largest independent advisory, design and engineering consultancies. Together CQG and Beca are strengthening our environmental science, ecology, GIS, stakeholder engagement, planning and approvals capability across regional Queensland.
Both CQG and Beca have built their businesses on trusted relationships, outcome-focused advice and a strong understanding of their clients and the communities in which they work. Joining Beca creates new opportunities to grow our environmental services across Australia, particularly within the water, energy and defence sectors.
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to join CQG’s progressive and growing Planning and Environmental Approvals team as we seek to hire a Senior Planner in Brisbane.
The Senior Planner – Statutory Planning and Environmental Approvals provides high-quality statutory planning, environmental approvals and impact assessment services to support CQG’s Planning and Environmental Approvals Team. You will be responsible for identifying approval pathways, preparing development and permit applications, coordinating technical inputs and managing projects from inception to determination and, where required, post-approval support.
This role will give you the opportunity to provide sound technical advice to clients, project managers and other team members, lead small project teams and work collaboratively with regulators, clients, subconsultants and community stakeholders. The role is also expected to understand client requirements and identify opportunities for further work.
About you
You will have tertiary qualifications in Town Planning / Environmental Planning or a related discipline, with experience in statutory planning, environmental planning and/or environmental approvals, within a consulting environment. Passionate about the discipline you’ll be a member of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body such as the Planning Institute of Australia or the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
Your experience to date will have given you a sound understanding of the principles and practices of statutory planning, environmental planning and impact assessment as well as a strong working knowledge of relevant Queensland’s planning and environmental legislation, policies and guidelines, in particular the Planning Act 2016, Environmental Protection Act 1994 and local government planning schemes.
The nature of the role will mean you will have a willingness to travel for project work, including to remote locations and, where required, overnight or extended stays and hold a current C Class driver’s licence.
Ambitious to progress your career and relish an opportunity to work in an environment that encourages motivated, passionate, and enthusiastic consultants who want to make a difference. We'd love to support you to become a leader within your technical discipline. This position will provide you with wide exposure and create opportunities for career and professional development across the CQG and Beca businesses.
