Overview
This person is a foundational member of the Asset Care Team. The employee will work closely with Hytrel® Planners, other Core Maintenance Experts, various vendors/contractors, and the shift teams to execute predictive/preventative work orders based on Care Plans and respond to reactive work.
Responsibilities
• Attend routine Meetings • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all instruments, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), monitoring systems, electrical systems, and pneumatic equipment in the facilities. • Support Management of Change (MOC) work with ordering parts and scheduling work for Expense and Capital projects o Implement and run small MOC projects, as necessary • Work with MRO Manager and Planner to maintain shop inventories, including spare equipment • Create PPM Corrective Action Work Orders as needed • Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and update drawings for all designated equipment • Contact point for off-site contractors specific to the job being worked on, as needed • Complete Service Entry Sheets and Goods Receipts for contractor invoices and materials ordered that are received by workflow • Assist shifts on repair work orders and as needed • Address emerging technical issues • Member of the electrical safety team • Enter equipment histories, time confirmations, and close out work orders once all cost flows have been completed • Work schedule is day shift M-F with occasional OT on night/weekends/holidays to support plant Reliability.
Qualifications
Skills Required
• High school diploma or GED. • At least 7 years of electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience in manufacturing, chemical, power generation, pulp and paper, oil and gas, or related industrial environment. • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing: o Process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices. o Control valves, positioners, and associated pneumatic systems.
o PLC-based control systems. o Distributed Control Systems (DCS). o Motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and industrial electrical systems up to 480V. • Ability to calibrate, configure, and commission field instrumentation • Experience interpreting historian data and process trends to identify equipment and control system issues • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements and safe work practices. • Ability to participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) investigations and implement corrective actions. • Experience supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes. • Proven SAP experience (Work Orders, Requisition, Workflows, etc.) • Microsoft Office Skills • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks • Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitments • Balances short-term and long-term priorities • Has a sound foundation of understanding and ability to use technical/functional knowledge in meeting business needs • Adjusts to varying demands. Analyzes requirements and adjusts • Skilled in the use and interpretation of computer historian data to aid in troubleshooting control systems • Skilled in the use of hand and power-driven tools as well as instrument communicators and simulators • Be able to work from piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, and electrical schematics. • Guide resident E&I contractors
Desired Skills • Associate degree or technical diploma in: o Electrical Technology o Instrument Technology o Industrial Electronics o Mechatronics o Industrial Maintenance • 10+ years of industrial electrical & instrumentation experience in processing industry (chemical, power, pulp & paper, or oil & gas) • Familiarity with the following: o Motor control centers (MCCs) o Variable frequency drives (VFDs) o Low and medium voltage power distribution up to 13.8kV o Motors, transformers, breakers, and switch gear o Pressure, temperature, flow, and level instrumentation o Calibration and loop checks o Control valve and positioners
o PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.) o DCS systems (ABB, Honeywell, etc.) o SCADA systems and communication networks o Instrument configuration and commissioning o Safety Instrumented Systems (SISs)/safety systems • Knowledge of 5S/Operational Excellence (OPEX) • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance (Padm) principles. • Ability to identify bad actors and develop equipment improvement strategies. • Experience developing maintenance job plans, procedures, and equipment care plans.
