Position Summary

The Filling Technician is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of pharmaceutical filling and packaging activities. The position supports commercial, development, scale-up, and Clinical Trial Material (CTM) packaging and filling operations in accordance with approved batch documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and cGMP requirements.

The Technician performs equipment setup and operation, changeovers, in-process checks, cleaning, material handling, and documentation with minimal supervision. The role requires technical aptitude, attention to detail, sound judgment, and accountability for assigned activities.

Shift: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Location: Greenville, NC
100% Onsite

The Role

  • Perform filling and packaging activities in accordance with approved batch documentation, SOPs, and work instructions

  • Set up, operate, change over, clean, and maintain assigned packaging equipment and support line clearance and equipment readiness activities

  • Support various packaging and filling technologies and operations as required by business needs

  • Recognize abnormal equipment or process conditions and promptly communicate issues that may affect safety, quality, compliance, or production

  • Perform required in-process checks, inspections, testing, and equipment verifications in accordance with established requirements

  • Verify product and packaging attributes, identify and segregate unacceptable product or components, and support Right-First-Time execution

  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, organized, and inspection-ready condition; Stop work and escalate conditions that may compromise product quality, safety, or compliance

  • Accurately complete and verify batch records, logbooks, inventory transactions, forms, and other required documentation in compliance with cGMP and data integrity requirements, ensuring the accuracy of materials, components, quantities, identification, and status information, and promptly reporting any discrepancies, errors, or questionable entries to the appropriate Team Lead or Supervisor

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support safe and efficient packaging operations

  • Communicate equipment issues, material shortages, process abnormalities, and execution barriers in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with at least five years of pharmaceutical manufacturing or packaging experience in an oral solid dosage facility

  • Experience working in a regulated environment with strong documentation practices, including batch records and logbooks

  • Hands-on experience with filling (e.g. API-in-capsule) and packaging equipment and the ability to follow detailed instructions and in-process requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, recognize abnormalities, and appropriately escalate issues

  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and ability to learn and operate packaging and equipment

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately record results

  • Position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs unassisted, and push and pull in excess of 100 lbs

  • Majority of the work day is performed while standing and walking

  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations

  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, twist, and have full range of motion in upper and lower extremities

  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, other active chemical ingredients, dust, fumes, gases, skin and respiratory irritants, moving machinery parts, and damp, humid and wet environments

  • Must be able to use a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery

  • This position requires that a respirator be worn for your safety, and as such, employment is contingent upon being able to complete a medical evaluation with satisfactory results. The medical evaluation is conducted via an external vendor assigned by Catalent
