Description

McAdams is a full-service land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, transportation, and geomatics firm located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Florida. We seek to partner with our clients to create meaningful experiences through inspired design. Our employees are what make McAdams different. We bring experiences to the forefront of everything we do, and to do that takes special people.

Position Overview

The Land Development Engineering lead for the Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) region will spearhead the growth, direction, and performance of McAdams’ Land Development Design practice. This leader will build and sustain strong relationships with private developers, municipal partners, and key regional stakeholders across North Texas, while leading a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team delivering exceptional residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.

As Lead, you'll be accountable for operational excellence, project delivery quality, and business development results, ensuring consistent execution aligned with McAdams’ standards, culture, and long-term strategic objectives. This role also champions talent development—coaching, mentoring, and expanding the team to support growth, elevate technical excellence, and strengthen McAdams’ presence in the DFW market.

At McAdams, we invest in growth-minded leaders who are eager to build, innovate, and elevate those around them. You will have the autonomy to shape strategy, influence market direction, and expand capabilities—backed by a collaborative leadership team, robust internal resources, and a strong platform for long-term career development. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is motivated by meaningful impact, continuous improvement, and helping others succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction, vision, and growth of the DFW Land Development practice.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with North Texas developers, landowners, municipalities, and reviewing agencies.
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities and lead pursuit strategies for major development projects.
  • Oversee execution of large-scale, multi-disciplinary land development projects with strong project controls and financial performance.
  • Ensure predictable project outcomes through effective scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing teams to support long-term practice growth.
  • Mentor staff and promote a collaborative, learning-focused environment that supports career development.
  • Drive operational excellence, resource planning, and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Skills + Experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 12–20+ years of progressive experience in land development engineering.
  • Proven leadership delivering large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
  • Strong credibility with North Texas developers, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex project portfolios.
  • Experience in business development and growing a regional practice.
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and emotional intelligence.

 Work Environment + Physical Demands

Work is primarily performed in an office setting with standard physical requirements such as sitting, typing, and extended computer use. Occasional travel within the DFW region may be required for client meetings, site visits, or industry events.

  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
