JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a patient/client/visitor service culture, and in accordance with the established mission, vision, values and objectives of the organization, working under the general operational supervision of the Manager, the Patient and Family Resource Centre Assistant provides a welcoming, informative, and respectful presence to patients, families and visitors to the Centre for Patients and Families. Offers support to patients, families and/or visitors through active listening, demonstrating empathy and understanding, and providing access to reliable health information and community based resources. Provides practical support services to patients, families and visitors, such as assisting visitors to complete applications, providing information on transportation, providing information regarding programs that they have applied to and supporting and assisting patients, families and/or visitors to identify additional needs. Collects, organizes and maintains a diverse range of patient resources, including printed materials, brochures, videos, and online links as well as up to date information on federal, provincial and community resources/services.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Graduation from a recognized Social Services Worker diploma program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
