Fractional Financial Manager

Our client is a rapidly growing professional services firm specialising in outsourced finance and strategic advisory solutions for SMEs and scaling businesses. They are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Fractional Financial Manager to join their dynamic team in Somerset West. This role offers significant long-term growth potential and exposure to a wide variety of industries and businesses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deepen their strategic advisory capabilities and play a meaningful role in supporting the financial success and growth of a diverse client portfolio

Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting • Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports for a portfolio of clients. • Perform and review monthly reconciliations, including balance sheet, bank, VAT, payroll, and other control accounts. • Prepare and review annual financial statements and supporting schedules. • Support clients with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, cost modelling, and unit economics. • Assist clients with annual tax planning and tax readiness in collaboration with internal specialists. • Develop, document, and implement financial standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and scalability within client finance functions. • Establish and maintain effective financial reporting cadences, including monthly reporting cycles, review meetings, and action tracking. Client Advisory & Financial Oversight • Act as the outsourced Financial Manager for assigned client portfolios. • Lead monthly financial meetings and provide strategic financial insights and recommendations. • Support clients with financial decision-making and performance improvement initiatives. • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and management reporting tools. • Support clients in embedding robust financial controls and governance practices. Systems, Projects & Compliance • Support clients with finance-related projects, including system implementations, restructuring initiatives, and due diligence exercises. • Assist with audit and independent review processes and address related queries. • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax legislation, and internal quality standards. • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within client environments. • Support clients using inventory and ERP systems, including inventory management, stock reconciliations, and reporting processes. • Assist with systems implementations, integrations, configuration reviews, and optimisation projects. • Work across multiple accounting, reporting, and ERP platforms and adapt quickly to new technologies and client systems. Client Relationship Management • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service delivery. • Respond to client queries accurately and within agreed timelines. • Identify opportunities for additional service offerings that would add value to clients. • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and proactively act on feedback to continuously improve service delivery. • Collaborate closely with Management Accountants and internal teams to coordinate client deliverables.

• Support senior finance leadership by ensuring accurate reporting and preparing clients for strategic financial discussions and decision-making. Requirements: • BCom degree or Honours in Accounting or Finance. • SAICA, CIMA CGMA, or SAIPA articles/qualifications will be advantageous. • Minimum of 3–5 years experience within an accounting firm, outsourced finance function, or client-facing finance role. • Strong understanding of IFRS for SMEs, management accounting principles, and South African tax legislation. • Experience preparing management accounts, annual financial statements, and reconciliations. • Proficiency in cloud accounting platforms and related financial systems. • Experience with inventory management or ERP systems will be advantageous. • Experience with SARS eFiling and client tax administration is beneficial. • International or cross-border finance exposure will be advantageous.
