The Director of Executive Communications provides enterprise‑level leadership for strategic communications supporting executive and Senior Leadership Team, communications and key enterprise priorities. The role oversees front office communications operations and ensures disciplined coordination across the Employee Engagement function. This position works closely with the Chief Communications Officer’s Chief of Staff to maintain alignment, governance and consistency in all top‑tier executive communications.

What You Will Do:

  • Executive & Leader Communications.
  • Oversee communications operations, including planning, message integration, sequencing and cross‑functional coordination in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Partner with the CCO’s Chief of Staff to manage communication governance, review cycles, enterprise communications rhythms and leadership engagement processes.
  • Counsel on messaging, content development and readiness for high‑visibility executive engagements, including town halls, internal forums, enterprise updates, and key industry events.
  • Ensure consistent executive narratives that translate complex strategic topics into clear, compelling, enterprise‑aligned communications.
  • Enterprise Alignment & Communication Operations
  • Establish and maintain governance processes that ensure accurate, timely and aligned executive messages across internal and external channels.
  • Drive an enterprise approach to communications analytics aligned to the Brand Reputation team by establishing meaningful metrics, interpreting data trends, and translating insights into actions that strengthen executive narratives, improve channel effectiveness.
  • Guide the development of high‑impact executive content including speeches, statements, presentations and strategic messaging platforms.
  • Ensure integration of executive communications across the employee engagement COE with broader enterprise communications strategies, channels and initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement in communications processes, using analytics, stakeholder input and best practices to elevate effectiveness and impact
  • Serve as a trusted partner to senior executives, exercising sound judgment and discretion on sensitive, time‑critical communications.
     


Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in executive communications at the enterprise level.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with mastery in distilling complex information for senior audiences.
  • Proven ability to navigate and influence in a highly matrixed, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong strategic and operational acumen, with experience running communications governance, processes and leadership rhythms.
  • Ability to manage high‑stakes communications with discretion, maturity and executive presence.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trust with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Candidates in Charlotte, NC, Arlington, VA, Farmington, CT, Cedar Rapids, IA or Dallas, TX are preferred.

The salary range for this role is 204,800 USD - 389,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
