Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller

Golden Valley Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant, or Assistant Controller, depending on experience, to join our growing community bank.  Reporting directly to the Controller, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional who values teamwork, integrity, and making a meaningful impact in our local community.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying new and existing regulations and practices and advising management on internal controls, policies and procedures.
• Developing and maintaining a variety of financial reports, including schedules and support for audits, regulatory exams and year-end financial statements.
• Review, prepare and advise Bank staff on accounting entries, ensuring security and accuracy of accounting and financial transactions.
• Perform or approve, as appropriate, account reconciliations and certifications.
• Monitor general ledger accounts daily, including wire-related, correspondent bank, accounts payable, accruals, prepaids, investments and other general ledger accounts.  Investigate and problem solve any unusual activity.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly Call Reports submitted to the FFIEC.
• Wire transaction processing and recordkeeping.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
• At least five (5) years of accounting experience; banking or financial institution experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
• Experience with regulatory reporting and bank accounting is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office:  Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong ability to maintain cordial and professional relationships with customers and co-workers.
• Active listening skills, with strong deductive reasoning ability.
• Willingness to adapt to quickly changing business needs and deadlines.
• Professional integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
