We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our team in Canada. This is a hybrid role, with office presence as needed, and the preferred locations are our Montreal, Quebec and Toronto, Ontario offices.

We will count on you to:

  • Support the Company’s success and protect its reputation by promoting integrity, excellence, and high standards
  • Oversee and manage individual licensing with provincial and territorial regulators across Canada
  • Support licensed colleagues with licensing questions and inquiries
  • Identify, analyze, and advise on licensing risk and compliance issues in our insurance brokerage and consulting businesses
  • Bring a pragmatic, partnership-based approach to compliance that supports business goals while identifying and managing risk
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in one or more key licensing areas such as agency/brokerage, TPA, consultant, reinsurance, and/or adjuster licensing
  • Stay current on legal and regulatory changes affecting insurance licensing and help update compliance programs as needed
  • Work closely with team members, business partners, and operations colleagues to solve problems, improve processes, and support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Use sound judgment in licensing compliance decisions and escalate issues to the Chief Compliance Officer when needed
  • Help develop and deliver internal communications and guidance on insurance licensing requirements
  • Conduct licensing monitoring activities, report findings, identify remediation actions, and track completion
  • Work effectively with provincial and territorial insurance regulators, including outreach and responses to inquiries
  • Support continuing education activities with regulators, including course accreditations, certifications, and credit issuance
  • Support compliance activities in regulatory portals, including reporting, onboarding, and payments

What you’ll need to have:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in insurance licensing compliance and/or licensing operations, preferably with an insurance brokerage/agency, insurance company, or insurance regulatory advisory role
  • Excellent French and English communication skills, since the role involves interaction with colleagues outside Quebec and insurance regulators across Canada
  • Working knowledge of key insurance licensing regulations and/or risk areas
  • Experience with insurance licensing frameworks and provincial requirements
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams and/or a matrix organization
  • Ability to work with provincial and territorial insurance regulators in examinations, enforcement matters, or investigations, and to assist with internal investigations as needed
  • Strong commitment to compliant and ethical behavior, with personal integrity and accountability
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects successfully and on time
