Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of entry-level support duties related to Parks and Recreation programs, activities, and facility operations with a primary focus on front desk operations and customer service. Assists with the coordination and implementation of recreational programs, special events, and daily facility operations. This position requires customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively with the public. Work is performed during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Front Desk and Customer Service Operations:
Answers telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about programs, activities, schedules, and facility policies
Issues facility access cards, rental equipment, and program materials to participants.
Maintains organized front desk area and ensures all informational materials are current and accessible.
Administrative Support:
Utilizes recreation software to enter data, generate reports, and maintain participant records.
Assists with filing, copying, and other clerical duties to support department operations.
Answers emails and return phone messages in a timely and professional manner.
Program and Event Support:
Monitors participants during activities to ensure compliance with safety rules and facility policies.
Assists with distributing and collecting program equipment and supplies.
Help promote recreation activities and special events to the community
Provide assistance to program instructors and participants as directed.
Facility Operations:
Reports maintenance issues, safety hazards, and equipment problems to supervisor immediately.
Assists with light custodial duties including trash removal and general cleaning as needed.
Monitors facility usage and ensures all patrons follow established rules and regulations.
Opens and closes facility according to established procedures when assigned.
Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the department schedule.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pass the required background check and drug screening
High school diploma or GED required.
No prior experience required. Customer service experience in recreation, hospitality, retail, or related field is desirable but not required.
Experience working with the public and handling cash transactions preferred but not required.(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of/or ability to learn recreation programs, activities, and facility operations.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service with a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle cash and process financial transactions accurately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize recreation management software and computer applications.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
