The Role

The Corporate Credit Underwriting Associate will work as part of the direct lending team on all stages of the investment process and will focus on a variety of different industries. Responsibilities for the Associate will include modeling, quantitative financial analysis, industry research and understanding/monitoring portfolios for investments. The successful candidate will be a core member of the investment team and will have the opportunity to play an active and integral role in the investment process analyzing credits across multiple industries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and project support for all investment related activities; construct financial models, sensitivity analyses, comparable analyses and other discrete financial analyses as well as industry research across multiple industries
  • Conduct exploratory research and perform analytics on potential investment opportunities alongside members of the team
  • Play an active role on the deal team in analyzing and synthesizing new investment opportunities, along with providing assistance during legal documentation
  • Develop, present and discuss investment committee memoranda and materials with senior team members
  • Develop meaningful relationships with management teams as part of the investment process
  • Assist the team with additional ad hoc projects, including but not limited to portfolio monitoring, reporting, investor requests and presentations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a degree in finance, accounting, economics preferred; Coursework in finance and accounting preferred with strong grasp on the fundamentals of financial markets
  • At least 2 years of experience in credit investing, investment banking (Leveraged Finance backgrounds strongly preferred) or a combination of both
  • Proven track record of academic and professional success and achievement
  • Strong interest in credit investing and specifically in the private credit and direct lending industries
  • Previous experience with/knowledge of credit agreements and/or bond indentures is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must; Strong written and verbal communication skills also required
  • Nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Candidate must have the desire and ability to take initiative on tasks and responsibilities
  • Collaborative and able to effectively communicate within lean investment teams as well as able to work independently
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Pay Range

$175,000 - $200,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
