Iron Mountain is seeking a detail-oriented, highly skilled UK Senior Payroll Analyst to join our EMEA Payroll team.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing end-to-end UK payroll operations. You will ensure precise data preparation, validate calculations, collaborate closely with our external payroll vendor, and resolve employee queries while continuously driving process optimization and compliance.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
- Payroll Operations & Delivery: Oversee, prepare, review, and execute accurate UK payroll processing. Timely prepare, validate, and submit data to our payroll vendor according to established schedules and payroll calendars.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with our external payroll vendor to monitor SLAs, manage payroll cycles, and support key initiatives such as annual processes, payrolling benefits, salary sacrifice schemes, and system setup.
- Employee & Customer Support: Act as a key point of contact for employee compensation queries. Collaborate with internal and external Workforce Administration (WFA) teams via case management systems to resolve escalations and ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Process Excellence & Automation: Continuously review, document, and refine existing payroll processes. Leverage advanced Excel/Google Sheets, formulas, and AI tools to drive process automation, data validation, and continuous improvement.
- Service Metric & SLA Monitoring: Track case volumes, resolution metrics, and service level performance for both internal teams and external vendor partners.
- Compliance & Governance: Strictly adhere to all applicable UK payroll regulations, tax laws, National Insurance (NI) standards, company policies, and our Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. Complete all mandatory compliance training on time.
What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of direct experience in Payroll Operations (in-house or vendor side).
- In-Depth UK Payroll Expertise: Comprehensive technical knowledge of UK tax calculations, National Insurance (NI), salary sacrifice schemes, system and wagetype setup, and payroll project management.
- System & Tech Proficiency: Hands-on experience with core HRIS (preferably Workday) and case management platforms (ideally ServiceNow).
- Advanced Technical Skills: Strong capability in Excel / Google Sheets formulas, along with a forward-thinking approach to using AI adaptation to enhance automation, data validation, and accuracy.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Capabilities: Proven track record in root-cause analysis, conflict resolution, customer-interfacing communications, and thriving under pressure.
- Adaptability & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across cross-functional teams and comfortably shift priorities to meet evolving business needs.
