Job Summary:

Access Services Marketing / Communications Interns will assist the Boatwright Memorial Library Outreach & Communications Manager with library communications and engagement activities. This includes content creation, social media management, designing promotional materials, assisting in library events, and other marketing duties as assigned. Interns will work closely with the Outreach & Communications Manager planning engagement activities and creating library wide marketing strategies. The mission of the University Libraries is to provide University of Richmond constituents with information resources and services that enable them to succeed in their academic pursuits. The Access Services Marketing / Communications Intern will play a key role in establishing this mission. 

Outreach Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the @boatwrightstudents Instagram and @boatwrightlibrary TikTok accounts.
  • Generate content that appeals to students at the University of Richmond.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of displays that promote the libraries’ academic resources and services.
  • Design promotional materials for library events and programs.
  • Organize student engagement activities during the academic school year.
  • Create and implement library marketing strategies.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the Outreach & Communications Manager.

Skills and Abilities

  • Familiar with online graphic design sites such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud Express.
  • Ability to create engaging content for prominent social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, including ideation, filming, editing, and scheduling.
  • Intermediate typing and computer skills required and the ability to troubleshoot problems with printers, copiers, scanners, etc.
  • Ability to work with little supervision, stay organized, prioritize work, and respond to work demands
  • Willingness to collaborate with other Marketing/Communications Interns
  • Ability to grasp use of various technologies used in the Library and Access Services environment.
  • Able to work 8 or more hours a week and occasional evenings/weekends.

Pay Grade: SP Student 3 (starting rate $14.45)
