Forklift Driver

Overview

• Objective: Safely and efficiently handle material movement to support production, receiving, and dispatch operations.
• Purpose: Load and offload full pallets of primary and secondary products onto and from transporter vehicles, ensuring correct placement and secure stacking for distribution.
• Scope: Perform loading and offloading functions within production, receiving, and dispatch areas.
• Load full pallets of primary loads onto transporter vehicles and offload incoming vehicles.
• Load full pallets for secondary distribution customers.
• Maintain the pallet store, including sorting pallets and managing pallet inventory.
• Remove waste and deposit it in designated waste areas.
• Adhere to workplace safety, quality, and housekeeping standards while supporting production flow.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation: Operate the forklift in accordance with company safety procedures, traffic rules, and load limits, and immediately report any safety incidents or hazards.
• Loading accuracy: Ensure correct identification, orientation, and secure stacking of full pallets for primary and secondary distribution to prevent damage and mis-shipment.
• Timeliness: Complete loading and offloading tasks within scheduled timeframes to support production flow and delivery windows.
• Equipment care: Perform daily pre‑start checks, report faults, and carry out basic upkeep (cleaning, refueling/charging) to maintain vehicle readiness.
• Housekeeping and stores: Maintain the pallet store and waste areas—sort pallets, manage pallet inventory, and remove waste to designated locations.
• Recordkeeping and communication: Complete loading/offloading records, log equipment defects, and communicate status or issues to supervisors and quality personnel.
• Compliance and quality: Follow quality control instructions, adhere to handling procedures, and act on quality personnel feedback until approval is granted.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Valid forklift license.
