Job Title Location Operations - Field Support Engineer (Mech) I Sapele Base Office
CLIENT SUMMARY The client is Nigeria’s leading independent energy company. JOB SUMMARY
Provide on-site mechanical/piping engineering support to the construction team for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of mechanical scope on onshore oil and gas assets. Responsibilities include review and interpretation of mechanical designs, installation and commissioning support, troubleshooting, quality assurance, and ensuring adherence to HSE, PTS (Permit to Work), and project standards throughout the construction lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Construction Execution and Field Engineering
• Plan and coordinate mechanical/piping activities** on site, ensuring alignment with project schedules, scope, and cost controls.
• Interpret mechanical/piping drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and standards** (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, NORSOK) to support installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Review material requisitions, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and punch lists** to ensure readiness and traceability.
• Support maintenance of design change management**, ensuring any as-built changes are documented, approved, and reflected in drawings and SOPs.
• Lead on-site technical interfaces** with other disciplines (Civil, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, QC/QA & Construction Engineers) to resolve interfaces and non- conformances.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance.
• Enforce HSE policies and permit-to-work (PTW) discipline**; ensure hot-work, confined-space, lifting, and confined-space entries are properly controlled.
• Conduct on-site risk assessments and JHA/JSA development** for mechanical activities; implement suitable control measures.
• Champion Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)** by monitoring workmanship, materials, welding, coatings, and mechanical equipment installation per specifications.
• Verify equipment and material fit-for-purpose**, conducting pre-commissioning checks, leak tests, torque sequences, and alignment verifications. Inspection, Testing, and Commissioning Support.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities**, including pneumatic/hydraulic tests, pressure testing, alignment checks, vibration analyses, and mechanical integrity verifications.
• Assist in the development and execution of commissioning procedures** and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Commissioning Lead.
Materials, Tools, and Field Logistics.
• Manage field material staging, handling, storage, and tracking** to minimize loss, damage, or misplacement.
• Maintain calibration of measurement and testing instruments**; ensure proper tool control and toolbox talk adherence.

• Support fabrication shop activities when required** (bolt torquing, flange management, coating and painting coordination).
Competencies
• BS degree in engineering field • Experience in multiple assignments in engineering, construction, and mechanical/piping
engineering activities • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads & frequent changes in priorities • Excellent communication skills & ability to read, write & speak fluent English • Proficient in MS Office suite of software programs
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • Minimum of 4 years on a similar role in the Oil and Gas industry.
