About Global Family Office (GFO)
The Global Family & Private Investment Offices team (“GFO”) is a full service client delivery business, within the Wealth Management division, specifically dedicated to supporting ultra-high net worth individuals, families (>$200m of investable assets), their charities and foundations, along with the family offices who serve them.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Sales EMEA & APAC, this senior business development role is responsible for driving growth across the European family office, business owner and private investment office client community. The successful candidate will originate, develop and convert new client relationships across investment management, asset administration, banking, technology, fiduciary and other advisory solutions.
The role will act as a trusted advisor and strategic market ambassador, building a strong external referral network while collaborating closely with Northern Trust partners across Wealth Management, Institutional, GFO regional teams and the wider enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead business development activity across the European family office and private investment office market.
• Build and maintain a strong network of family offices, business owners, intermediaries, external advisors and centres of influence.
• Manage the full sales lifecycle, from prospect identification, profiling and discovery through to product positioning, proposal, negotiation, closing, onboarding and relationship transition.
• Develop tailored client solutions by leveraging Northern Trust's investment, asset administration, banking, technology, fiduciary and advisory capabilities.
• Research prospects' financial profiles and assess appropriate product and service solutions.
• Develop strong rapport with prospects, clients and influencers, arranging meetings and senior engagement to progress opportunities.
• Present Northern Trust product and service materials to prospective clients and designated liaisons, including attorneys, CPAs, investment consultants and other advisors.
• Partner with internal product, investment, banking, fiduciary, servicing, risk and compliance teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Maintain an understanding of applicable local laws and regulations relating to investment, banking and related services, ensuring compliant solicitation and relationship servicing activity.
• Contribute to regional growth initiatives, market strategy, competitor analysis and broader development planning for GFO Europe.
• Represent Northern Trust's Global Family Office business at relevant prospect, intermediary and centre-of-influence events.
• Provide appropriate referrals to other wealth strategists within GFO and Wealth Management where opportunities align more closely with another market or coverage area.
• Operate in line with enterprise risk, AML, KYC and compliance standards and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
• 10-15+ years' experience in wealth management, private banking, family office advisory, investment management, trust services or related financial services sectors.
• Demonstrated success in originating and winning new business from ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices, private investment offices, business owners or institutional investors.
• Prior experience with European family office prospects and clients is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of investment solutions, wealth structuring, fiduciary services, banking products and asset servicing offerings.
• Established network within the European wealth management, family office and professional advisory community.
• Professional financial services qualifications and regulatory registrations relevant to the jurisdictions covered by the role are highly desirable.
• Experience working across multiple European markets and jurisdictions is preferred.
• French language fluency is advantageous but not required.
