Windows Systems Administrator / Active Secret

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to support our Federal Strategic Cyber Mission program.

 

Location: Beltsville, MD

• Ability to support core business hours (0800–1700 / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).

 

 

As a Windows Systems Administrator, you will provide enterprise-level support for Windows Server environments across OpenNet, ClassNet, and multiple secured enclaves. In this role, you’ll ensure reliable, compliant, and secure operations through proactive maintenance, effective troubleshooting, and continuous systems improvement.

 

You’ll manage routine updates, patching cycles, and configuration changes while maintaining system availability and performance. Your expertise in Active Directory will be central—supporting authentication services, resolving account and directory issues, and ensuring proper configuration of critical AD attributes used for integrations with platforms such as Okta and iPost.

 

You will play a key role in vulnerability remediation by applying STIG-compliant configurations, monitoring iPost scoring, and collaborating with Cybersecurity, Scanning, and Systems Administration teams to address findings. Using tools like SolarWinds and Splunk, you’ll analyze system performance and logs to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

 

Automation and optimization are essential in this position. You’ll develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to reduce manual work, support backup validation and recovery efforts aligned with COOP requirements, and assist in maintaining virtualized environments such as Nutanix.

 

This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot system dependencies, resolve connectivity issues, and maintain clear documentation for configurations and procedures. You’ll also continue to build your technical expertise in Windows systems, Active Directory, and enterprise management tools to support ongoing mission needs.

 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience; or a PhD with 4 years. An additional 4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Must hold (or obtain prior to start) at least one approved certification, maintained as a condition of employment: CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA‑Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA‑DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, or SNOW App Dev.
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise Windows Server environments, Active Directory administration, virtualization platforms such as Nutanix, and monitoring tools including Splunk and SolarWinds.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.
• Ability to support core business hours (0800–1700).

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
