As a Senior Data Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our enterprise data platforms, including insurance and financial data warehouses. This role is part of our Global Data Operations team, where you will lead complex technical initiatives, mentor a talented engineering team, and drive platform enhancements that align with our mission to deliver exceptional service and solutions.
How you'll make an impact
In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing and optimising our data platforms. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement solutions to enhance platform performance. You’ll also:
- Act as a technical leader and escalation point for advanced data and integration challenges.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.
- Improve data quality, governance, and metadata processes to ensure compliance with standards like SOX and GDPR.
- Optimise query performance, data pipelines, and system scalability using tools such as Azure Data Stack (Synapse, SQL, DevOps), Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, and Power BI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integration and platform enhancements.
- Write clean, scalable code, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices in testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines and automate support tasks to improve operational efficiency.
About you
Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 6–8+ years in data-centric support operations, with 3+ years in data engineering roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and performance tuning, with hands-on experience in tools like Azure Data Stack, Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, and Power BI.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management abilities, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
