US Renewables & Power is seeking a Wind Project Developer to lead day-to-day renewable energy project development activities within the Eastern Wind Development region. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional looking to expand their expertise, take increasing ownership of complex projects, and contribute to the development of impactful renewable energy solutions.

In this role, you will support wind energy projects across the Eastern United States, including the NYISO and PJM service territories. You will manage key early- and mid-stage development activities, coordinate cross-functional contributions across interconnection, land, permitting, environmental, engineering, and commercial teams, and proactively identify and resolve risks to advance projects toward critical development milestones.

Working closely with experienced subject-matter experts, you will help shape project strategy, build alignment among stakeholders, and drive successful project outcomes. You will collaborate with both internal and external partners, representing AES professionally and effectively in meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements. As part of US Renewables & Power's Project Development team, you will partner with a wide range of disciplines and gain exposure to all aspects of utility-scale renewable energy development.

This position may be based in a hybrid work environment and requires travel to project locations and AES offices as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of project development, including project budgets, schedules, and risk management.
• Own project development schedules and budgets while partnering with leadership and team members for guidance and support.
• Identify, assess, and resolve risks across permitting, policy, commercial, technical, and schedule-related workstreams.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts among project partners and subject-matter experts.
• Facilitate project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicate project risks, opportunities, recommendations, and key decisions clearly and effectively.
• Deliver professional presentations and represent project interests in both internal and external forums.
• Manage contractual obligations associated with key project agreements.
• Lead discretionary permitting activities, including permitting strategy development, permit tracking, collaboration with regulatory authorities, and participation in public hearings.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
• Coordinate environmental studies, site surveys, due diligence activities, and associated reporting.
• Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams as project design and engineering activities advance.
• Support contractor selection efforts alongside the construction management team.
• Coordinate with execution teams to secure required ministerial permits.
• Lead project handoff activities to project execution teams once projects are fully developed and permitted.
• Support project financing efforts by coordinating diligence activities and providing required documentation.
• Manage relationships with external consultants and contractors, including oversight of associated project expenditures.
• Provide analysis and reporting support for business development and project pipeline activities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Approximately 4 to 8 years of experience in project development or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in renewable energy, urban planning, logistics, finance, business, engineering, project or construction management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Knowledge of renewable energy project development, utility infrastructure, interconnection processes, permitting, and contracting.
• Familiarity with renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% of the time, with additional travel as project needs require.
• Experience using CRM platforms and developing meaningful project metrics and reporting.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $110,000 and $137,700/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave).
