MECHANICAL COORDINATOR
ABOUT US
FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Mechanical Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mechanical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating mechanical maintenance activities for the fixed processing plant at the operational Greenfield gold mine.
The role ensures mechanical equipment across all plant circuits is maintained to maximise availability and reliability, supporting safe, efficient production.
This role will coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective mechanical maintenance, and support continuous improvement using industry best practice.
The position plays a critical role in maintaining the mechanical integrity and reliability of the fixed processing plant.
- Coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective mechanical maintenance for the fixed processing plant; provide support and coordinate planned plant shutdown maintenance tasks; develop mechanical maintenance schedules for crushing, grinding, gravity, flotation, CIL/CIP, elution, carbon regeneration and tailings equipment; coordinate mechanical work with the Planning Coordinator to align with overall maintenance schedules; maintain accurate mechanical equipment records within the CMMS; allocate labour, tools, equipment, spares and contractor resources to approved maintenance work; provide technical guidance to supervisors, foremen, technicians and contractors.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimise plant downtime; support reliability improvement initiatives, including analysis of failure trends and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) / Mean Time to Repair (MTTR); support the reliability coordinator in developing and coordinating corrective actions to eliminate repeat failures; recommend modifications that improve equipment safety, maintainability, reliability and life-cycle cost; manage critical spares holdings for mechanical equipment; liaise with OEM representatives on technical matters and warranty support.
- Participate in daily, weekly and monthly maintenance planning meetings; review planned work to confirm labour, permits, isolation requirements, tools, spares and technical information are available; work closely with maintenance planners to develop realistic schedules and job plans; prioritise maintenance work according to safety risk, equipment criticality, production impact and resource availability; coordinate schedule compliance and ensure incomplete work is properly recorded and rescheduled; review maintenance backlogs and support the elimination of overdue critical work; coordinate mechanical maintenance activities during planned plant shutdowns, including scope, priorities, resources, materials, timelines, work packs, lifting plans and isolation plans.
- Assist with preparation of the mechanical maintenance budget and cost estimates, and monitor expenditure against budget; coordinate mechanical contractor requirements and monitor contractor performance; promote Zero Harm principles and ensure mechanical maintenance plans comply with statutory safety requirements and environmental regulations; participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, Permit to Work processes, safety inspections and risk assessments; develop effective working relationships with Maintenance Planning, Processing Operations, Reliability Engineers, Contractors and the HSE Department.
QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Educational Background:
Holds a Mechanical Trade Certificate or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years' mechanical maintenance experience in a gold or mineral processing plant.
- Experience with rotating and fixed mechanical equipment.
- Previous experience in a Greenfield mining project (desirable).

Languages:
Fluency in English.

- Site-based Greenfield mining project; remote mine location.
- Roster-based employment.
- Exposure to construction, commissioning and operational environments.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours during shutdowns, commissioning and critical activities.
- Frequent interaction with operational and project teams.
