The Electrical Test Technician I is expected to perform system tests, conform to production and quality standards, analyze failure modes, and perform minor repairs in workstation. The tester ensures all records are kept and confers with appropriate resources when issues arise.
Responsibilities:
Comply with the company and site safety and quality policies, processes, and procedures
Maintain clean work environment and comply with 5S standards
Follow and complete established procedures, processes, and policies
Use standard work, programs, and work instructions to test all products, models, and/or subassemblies
Interpret schematics and drawings to properly test all products
Low/Medium Voltage Testing: Perform preliminary and low-voltage electrical tests (up to 10KV) in both manufacturing and test floor environments. This suite of tests encompasses Doble, Hipot, resistance, DGA, CT Test
Develop/co-develop written test procedures and/or troubleshooting guides for other technicians/testers
Troubleshoot and document all product, models, and/or subassemblies appropriately to meet quality standards
Perform minor repairs per work instruction/standard work within takt time; refer major repairs to appropriate resources
Collaborate on improving processes, lead times, productivity and cost using the DTZ process
Obtain and renew safety certification as needed to properly move and/or test all products, models, and/or subassemblies
Inform maintenance team of preventative maintenance opportunities for test equipment
Program systems on the product to perform testing as needed
Demonstrate an advanced technical aptitude to perform testing for complex, infrequent, and variable products
Work on assignments beyond product testing, participating in CI or NPI related initiatives
Work with Engineering to enhance test procedures
Act as a technical expert on product test, quality, and process issues with other areas
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Power, High Voltage, Electrical Engineering, Utilities Engineering, Electro-magnetic/equivalent major or 2 years' experience with Transformer Factory Acceptance Testing or Field Commissioning Testing.
NFP70E Medium Voltage certification & NEC Training (achieved within 30 days of start in role prior to beginning electrical work)
2 years of product testing in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate problem solving and troubleshooting skills to implement appropriate countermeasures
Intermediate PC knowledge
Understand testing process
Perform basic reading and math functions
Perform basic manufacturing assembly skills
Work in a team environment effectively

Train other employees
Preferred Job Requirements
Certified (Industrial Journeyman/Master) Electrician
Intermediate knowledge of mechanical testing with ability to diagnose potential failure mechanisms
Experience in root cause problem solving (5 Why, 8D, PDCA, etc.)
Experience effectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work
Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, etc)
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.)
