Description

This position is located in the South Metro area of Georgia.  The Forester will coordinate forestry, vegetation management, and right-of-way (R/W) encroachment management activities in the assigned geographic area. Implement all vegetation management activities in accordance with the GTC standard Transmission Vegetation Management Program (TVMP), with an emphasis on supporting applicable NERC standards. Respond to stakeholder encroachment requests (including field site visits). Work with external customers and internal organizations to authorize R/W usages and coordinate GTC's response to non-permissible usages, including physical removal of unauthorized encroachments-vegetation or structural. Inspect R/W (aerial and ground) to verify proper vegetation maintenance standards and identify unauthorized encroachments. Investigate and provide a resolution for abnormal situations (vegetation or non-permissible encroachments) identified. Manage contractors, overseeing productivity and quality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Required: 2-year degree in forestry. Preferred: 4-year degree in forestry, real estate, or related field.

Experience:
(I) Zero to Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in utility vegetation management and R/W land rights preferred,
(II) Two (2) plus years of progressively responsible experience in utility vegetation management and R/W land rights preferred,
(III) Five (5) plus years of progressively responsible experience in utility vegetation management and R/W land rights preferred

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: A valid GA Driver's License is required. Preferred: Commercial Pesticide Applicator (GA), GSWCC Blue Card, ISA Certified Arborist, (II & III) FAA Part 107, ISA Utility Specialist, TRAQ Certification, Registered Forester (GA)

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): PC skills including Microsoft Suite, database, and GIS-based programs. Skill to interpret engineering schematics, civil site designs, and maps. Ability to research courthouse records, land plats, and easements. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the capability to plan, organize, and work independently. Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills needed.
