Position Summary

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program’s aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

 

The Deputy Director will work on a part-time basis, two-days per week, under the direction of the Senior Fellow whose work focuses on the intersection of food and water security.

 

This part-time position, is based in CFR’s Washington D.C. office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite. 

Minimum Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in development of food security and other related programming, including: identifying potential speakers, presiders, and attendees for meetings, workshops, and symposia; preparing background materials and summary memos; and coordinating event logistics.
• Research specific areas for articles, reports, and other publications on food security and ENSO, climate-driven instability, and civil-military cooperation, among other topics
• Develop and maintain resource for CFR staff on food security developments.
• Assist in managing grant applications and reports and monitor deliverables, as needed
• Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in international relations, political science, related social sciences field with high academic achievement. Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of current food security issues.
• Eight to ten years related research, programming, and project management experience.
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

Compensation and Benefits

• The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $90,000 – $120,000, depending on experience.
