JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Health Professions department is seeking a positive, supportive, and dynamic Public Health Adjunct Instructor to teach a diverse community of learners. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to student success, equity, inclusion and the use of the classroom experiences to enhance workplace understanding and performance.

The adjunct instructor will teach Health & Wellness Coaching in the Public Health area.  These courses are taught remote/online and may be taught synchronously or asynchronously.

Essential Functions

• Teach assigned online Health & Wellness Coaching courses using approved MCC course outlines.
• Deliver instruction aligned with NBHWC coaching competencies.
• Provide timely, structured feedback on coaching skills and student performance.
• Support diverse learners and monitor student progress throughout the term.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance in accordance with college policies.
• Participate in course‑level assessment and continuous improvement activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of NBHWC coaching competencies and evidence‑based coaching practices.
• Skill in facilitating student learning in online environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations
• Ability to provide constructive, competency‑based coaching feedback
• Ability to use the Canvas learning management system for communication, grading, and instructional resources.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program leadership and adhere to MCC instructional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• NBHWC certification (National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching).
• Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field.
• 2 years of full-time related occupational experience.
• Minimum 200 hours of documented health & wellness coaching practice
• Experience providing structured coaching feedback aligned with NBHWC competencies.
• Experience teaching or facilitating diverse adult learners.
• Experience teaching in synchronous and asynchronous online formats.
• Familiarity with Canvas or a similar learning management system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a health‑related field.
• Experience teaching NBHWC‑aligned curriculum
• Experience evaluating coaching sessions, providing coaching feedback, or conducting Practical Skills Assessments.
• Experience supporting students preparing for NBHWC certification.

Compensation

$580 per Equivalent Credit Hours (ECH)
