Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform Solution Architect

Location:  Auckland preferred; other New Zealand locations considered. Hybrid, with two to three days per week in the office preferred.

Salary Package:  NZ$160,000 – NZ$180,000

Role Overview

You will lead the architecture of customer solutions built around Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) and Power Platform. Beginning with a customer’s operating needs and existing applications, you will establish the solution approach, determine where each product belongs and set the direction for customisation and integration. Your decisions must give delivery teams a workable route from business objectives to implementation.

Your involvement starts well before a project is built: you will contribute to discovery discussions, customer demonstrations and proposals, then develop the designs and estimates that underpin delivery. You will work with customer executives and technical leads, developers, functional consultants and specialists from other Microsoft practices. Clear ownership of interfaces, assumptions and risks will help everyone work from the same design.

The organisation is adding senior architecture capacity to support active customer demand and reduce dependencies on a small group of technical decision-makers. You will also help others adopt reusable design patterns and assess where newer automation, Copilot and AI-agent capabilities have a practical role. The position offers scope to guide colleagues and influence how wider Microsoft solutions come together for customers.

Responsibilities

• Map customer processes, objectives and the applications a proposed solution must connect with.
• Set the end-to-end CE architecture and define how Power Platform capabilities will extend it.
• Choose between existing product functions, tailored applications, workflow and integration.
• Document interfaces, data models, dependencies and key architecture decisions.
• Produce clear diagrams, estimates and technical specifications for development teams.
• Explain design options, costs and delivery trade-offs to customer stakeholders.
• Present solution concepts and supply technical input for proposals and tender responses.
• Coordinate solution decisions with consultants, developers and adjacent Microsoft teams.
• Identify design risks early and remain accountable through the handover into delivery.
• Assess whether Copilot and AI-agent features solve a genuine customer requirement.

Candidate Profile

You have led solution architectures involving Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Microsoft Power Platform, rather than working solely on individual features. You can design extensions, data structures and interfaces, and you write specifications that developers can work from. You understand when to use Power Apps, Power Automate or Power BI, and how Power Pages and Copilot Studio fit alongside the native functionality of CE. Tertiary qualifications and Dynamics 365 CE certifications support your practical experience.

You are credible in customer discussions, from exploring a business problem through to explaining technical decisions to senior leaders. You can adapt your presentation style for commercial and engineering audiences, write clear design documentation and contribute to demonstrations, tender responses and estimating. When weighing an architecture, you consider cost, implementation constraints and the support burden, and you know when to involve another specialist.

You take responsibility for an integrated outcome without treating architecture as a solo exercise. You raise issues early, share knowledge and stay involved through delivery preparation. Experience connecting CE with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations through dual-write, or using Azure Integration Services, Boomi or MuleSoft, would be valued. So would hands-on architecture involving Power Pages or Copilot Studio, including AI-agent applications.
