Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our team. This role is responsible for providing support to patients across several practices regarding their billing questions, managing account statements, generating patient estimates, and handling accounts placed with collection agencies. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of medical billing practices, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Respond to Patient Inquiries:
- Answer incoming calls and emails regarding billing questions.
- Provide clear and accurate information about charges, insurance coverage, payments, and balances.
- Patient Account Management:
- Review and update patient accounts in the system.
- Process account adjustments, refunds, and payment plans as needed.
- Statements and Billing:
- Generate and send patient statements in accordance with billing cycles.
- Assist in the resolution of returned mail and undeliverable statements.
- Patient Estimates:
- Create and communicate cost estimates for upcoming procedures or services based on insurance coverage and pricing data.
- Collaborate with clinical and insurance verification teams to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Collections Support:
- Identify and manage accounts eligible for collections.
- Coordinate with third-party collection agencies and provide account documentation as required.
- Assist patients with payment resolutions and questions related to collections.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in medical billing, healthcare customer service, or patient accounts preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare billing procedures, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and insurance terminology.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software; experience with [insert system, e.g., Epic, Cerner] is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
