The Opportunity
We are seeking a Facilities Technician to join our Canada Gas Operations team in Edson, AB. Reporting to the Area Manager, this position will provide operational and maintenance support across the Mountainview Area, ensuring facilities, equipment, and work sites are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
The successful candidate will support a wide variety of facility and field activities, coordinate and oversee contractor work, and assist area teams with routine maintenance, inspections, project execution, and operational requirements. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, and adapt to changing business priorities.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 – Monday to Thursday, 9 hours per day
Week 2 – Monday to Thursday, 9 hours per day; Friday, 8 hours
What You'll Do
Support the maintenance and operation of facilities, measurement sites, compressor stations, and pipeline infrastructure throughout the Edson/Whitecourt/Fox Creek Area
Coordinate and oversee contractor activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company requirements
Perform facility inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and routine operational tasks
Support low to medium complexity projects, including planning, coordination, contractor oversight, and field execution
Interpret technical documents, drawings, procedures, and vendor manuals
Assist with facility upkeep, equipment repairs, and general maintenance activities
Complete work orders, inspections, and maintenance records within SAP and other company systems
Collaborate with technicians, area managers, and business partners to support operational priorities
Demonstrate safety leadership and ensure compliance with TC Energy’s safety, health, environment, and risk standards
Support emergency response activities and outage work as required
Provide general operational support across the area as business needs dictate
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of oil and gas industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working around gas compression, measurement, pipeline, or facility operations
Experience coordinating or overseeing contractors
Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office, and computerized maintenance management systems
Experience reading technical drawings, procedures, and equipment manuals
Mechanical, construction, maintenance, or field operations experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
This Position Requires Candidates To
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Travel within the assigned area and occasionally to other company locations, which may involve overnight stays
Be available for emergency response activities and occasional extended work hours when operationally required
Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including construction and industrial settings
Drive long distances and perform field-based work throughout the Mountainview Area
Utilize computers, mobile devices, and company systems for communication, work management, and documentation
