The Electrical Safety Specialist ensures compliance with electrical safety standards across all manufacturing and utility operations. This role focuses on implementing, monitoring, and improving electrical safety programmes to protect personnel, equipment, and facilities in a high-voltage, energy-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Safety Programme Development: 
•    Design and maintain electrical safety policies and procedures aligned with local regulations and international standards (e.g., IEC, NFPA 70E).
Risk Assessment & Compliance: 
•    Conduct electrical hazard risk assessments and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Training & Awareness: 
•    Deliver electrical safety training for maintenance teams, contractors, and operators.
Inspection & Audits: 
•    Perform routine inspections of electrical installations, switchgear, and battery systems to identify hazards and corrective actions.
Incident Investigation: 
•    Lead investigations of electrical incidents and near misses; recommend preventive measures.
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): 
•    Implement and monitor LOTO procedures for electrical systems during maintenance and commissioning.
Coordination: 
•    Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and EHS teams to ensure safe design and operation of electrical systems.

Requirements
Educational background and previous experience required for the role

Qualifications and Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical safety within industrial or manufacturing environments (battery or chemical industry preferred).

Specific skills
•    Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA). 
•    Expertise in high-voltage systems, grounding, and arc-flash protection. 
•    Proficiency in risk assessment tools and safety audits.
