As an Accounting Analyst III based in Houston, Texas, you will provide accounting expertise by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial information that supports business and leadership decision-making. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements while serving as a resource to internal and external customers. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes through technology, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities/Expectations:
Performs assigned month-end activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting, and variance analysis
Prepares, maintains, and develops schedules, reports, and analyses for internal and external customers
Provides requested documentation and clear explanations to support audit activities
Participates in small projects with minimal supervision and serves as a resource for less experienced colleagues
Processes and analyzes significant volumes of financial and operational data, transactions, and issues
Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major with a strong accounting focus and a minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience in the energy industry
Preferred: CPA
Other Requirements:
Analyze monthly activity and volume fluctuations and explain variances
Understand and comply with SOX controls and related requirements
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen
Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills while fostering effective collaboration across teams and departments with a commitment to safety
Ability to work overtime during critical month-end and quarter-end closing and reporting periods
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred: Knowledge of U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Preferred: Experience in revenue accounting
