Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Northern Nevada Programs. The Coordinator of Northern Nevada Programs supports Nevada State University's School of Education (SoE) by supervising pre-service teacher candidates completing field placements throughout Northern Nevada, advising students in Nevada State's 2+2 transfer pathways, and recruiting prospective students from partner community colleges and high schools. This position serves as the primary point of contact between Northern Nevada students, Cooperating Teachers, school-site partners, and the Nevada State main campus, and plays a key role in building and sustaining strong regional partnerships with Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), Western Nevada College (WNC) and local K-12 school districts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise Pre-Service Teachers in Northern Nevada: Conduct classroom observations and formative/summative evaluations, address placement related concerns in coordination with the Director of Partnerships and Field Experiences, manage Dispositional Action Plans, and report on student progress.
• In collaboration with NSHE Specialist II/Advisor, advise Nevada State SoE Students: One-on-one and group advising on 2+2 transfer pathways from TMCC/WNC into Nevada State's education programs.
• Teach Student Teaching Seminar Course: Instruct and manage the student teaching seminar course, provide feedback and support to teacher candidates, assess student performance, and maintain all grading and course records.
• Recruitment for the School of Education: Presentations and campus events at TMCC/WNC and area high schools to promote Nevada State's teacher preparation programs.
• Build Rapport with Cooperating Teachers & District Partners: Maintain relationships with school principals, Cooperating Teachers, and district staff across WCSD, Lyon, Carson City, Churchill, and Douglas County school districts.
• Miscellaneous Duties: Attendance at faculty meetings, supervising a part-time instructor (If needed and in collaboration with the Director of Partnerships and Field Experiences), and serving as a liaison between Northern Nevada students and main campus.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Education or a closely related field.
• Valid Nevada Department of Education teaching license/certification, with classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or evaluating pre-service or novice teachers.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel regularly throughout Northern Nevada to school sites, TMCC, and WNC campuses.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively address concerns involving students, school partners, and university stakeholders.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with academic advising, transfer pathways, or 2+2 partnership programs.
• Familiarity with Northern Nevada K-12 districts (WCSD, Lyon County, Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County).
• Experience with student recruitment or admissions in a higher education setting.
• Experience supervising part-time or adjunct staff.
• Experience working with diverse, first generation and non-traditional students. 
• Experience in university teaching.

Rank, Salary & Benefits:

Budgeted salary for this position is $54,285.00. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
