AI Researcher - Radio Signal Processing & Recognition, Limassol, Cyprus

We are looking for an experienced AI Researcher to join our client's research team working in the field of intelligent radio signal processing and recognition at their offices in Limassol, Cyprus.

About the role:

In this role, you will develop and research state-of-the-art machine learning methods to automatically capture, classify, and interpret radio and high-frequency (RF) signals. You will work at the intersection of signal processing, deep neural networks, and wireless communication, playing a key role in deriving reliable insights from complex and noisy signal data.

Important note: Only applications from EU nationals who hold a valid working permit in Cyprus can be considered. While a hybrid working scheme for eligible positions is available, all employees must be based in Cyprus. New joiners are required to work onsite from the Limassol office for the first 3–6 months for training and team-building purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, train, and evaluate deep learning models (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers) for the detection, classification, and characterisation of radio signals, including modulation and emitter detection
• Process and analyse IQ data, spectrograms, and other RF representations using both classical DSP and data-driven methods
• Research signal detection in challenging conditions, including low SNR, overlapping signals, broadband spectrum sensing, and resource-constrained environments
• Build, curate, and augment training datasets, including synthetic signal generation and domain adaptation techniques
• Prototype and validate algorithms on software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and related frameworks
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in signal processing, software development, and systems engineering to translate research into practical solutions
• Document findings in internal technical reports
• Monitor current research trends and evaluate their relevance to your areas of work

Requirements:

• A Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning and deep learning, demonstrated through projects, publications, or practical experience
• Solid understanding of digital signal processing (Fourier analysis, filtering, sampling, modulation techniques)
• Excellent programming skills in Python and proficiency with a common deep learning framework such as PyTorch
• Experience working with large, noisy, or unstructured datasets
• Analytical thinking, scientific rigour, and the ability to independently address research questions
• Fluent spoken and written English
