We are looking for a motivated and dependable Lube Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with vehicles, providing excellent customer service, and wants to build a long-term career in the automotive industry.
No extensive experience is required. Previous automotive experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Position Overview
As a Lube Technician, you will perform routine vehicle maintenance and specialized fluid services while providing a positive customer experience. You will rotate through various areas of the shop, including the upper bay, lower bay, greeter, and cashier positions.
This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Manager and Assistant Manager.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance services, including:
- Oil and filter changes
- Fluid checks and services
- Tire pressure checks and inflation
- Transmission fluid services
- Differential services
- Radiator and coolant services
- Enter customer and vehicle maintenance information accurately into the computer system.
- Explain services performed and recommended maintenance to customers.
- Answer customer questions and provide prompt, professional, and courteous service.
- Process customer payments accurately.
- Rotate through all assigned Lube Technician responsibilities,
- Maintain a clean and organized shop, customer area, restrooms, grounds, and work areas.
- Sweep, mop, empty trash, and maintain overall cleanliness of the facility.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Previous automotive experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to successfully complete the company's Lube Technician training program.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and automotive systems.
- Ability to learn and properly operate automotive service equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, and coworkers.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced garage environment.
Physical Requirements
This position is active and requires the ability to:
- Stand and move throughout the shop for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, stretch, reach, and climb stairs.
- Reach approximately four feet overhead.
- Work around vehicles, lifts, tools, and automotive service equipment.
- Safely operate equipment such as oil and grease guns, differential pumps, transmission fluid exchange machines, and other shop equipment.
- Respond to communication calls from managers and coworkers.
- Maintain mobility throughout the facility.
Working Conditions
This position works 100% of the time in a garage environment and may involve exposure to:
- Heavy automotive equipment
- Slick or wet surfaces
- Automotive fluids and chemicals
- Hot and cold temperatures
- Noise and moving vehicles
- Automotive lifts and shop equipment
Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
